Uniform Aviation, India's Air Force branch has several standardized insignia. The Air Force will have several different insignia to signify rank and many different types of uniforms. Personnel insignia - The insignia used by a non-commissioned officer is typically made up of a ribbon, star, ribbon or medal. The ribbon represents the rank of sergeant, and the star represents the rank of staff sergeant. The personnel insignia is worn on the left sleeve.
Level insignia - The insignia used by an enlisted person is usually made up of rank, and lettering. The rank is usually small, with the use of a bow, to indicate that it's rank.
